A box to look forward to arriving, opening and spending an evening with. Put the kettle on, put your phone away and explore October through its wildlife, folklore and seasonal traditions.
The October Almanac Box brings together our seasonal zine, cosy Spiced Pumpkin Tea, an original folktale written by me and a collectible wooden animal totem. It’s a way to take a welcome break from the digital world, with something to read, something to enjoy and something to keep.
BOXES WILL BE SHIPPED FROM 25TH SEPTEMBER
Inside your October box
The October almanac zine takes a closer look at the natural world this month, alongside Halloween, Allantide and Samhain. Explore the customs our ancestors would have known, discover things to look out for on your walks and find ideas for seasonal making and time in the kitchen. It’s a companion to return to throughout October, taking what interests you and trying things in your own time. As well as recipes and craft projects to ensure you make the most out of the month of October.
Our Spiced Pumpkin Tea is made for a cosy cup while you read, particularly after a cold walk or as the evening draws in.
You’ll also find a copy of an original folktale, written by me, to enjoy by the fireside with your tea. Reading a story on paper gives you a chance to get absorbed without a notification interrupting halfway through.
Your collectible wooden animal totem is something to keep and bring out each October. Place it on a shelf or mantelpiece, or add it to a seasonal display as the month turns towards Halloween.
An A4 hand-illustrated calendar
With moon phases and the key dates and traditions you need to know for the month of October
You can enjoy the box out of curiosity, use it to deepen your connection to nature or explore customs you’d like to bring into your own home. There’s no need to follow a particular belief or celebrate every occasion covered in the zine.
Is this a subscription?
This is the one-off October box, with no ongoing subscription or recurring payment. It’s a good way to try the almanac box or choose a month that particularly interests you.
If you’d like a new box to look forward to each month, the monthly Almanac Box subscription is available separately.
Open it all at once and make an evening of it, or save the story and dip into the zine over the following weeks. There’s plenty to take beyond the box too, whether that’s noticing something new in a hedgerow or making time for a seasonal custom you’ve never tried before.
