Rather than sending the same products every month, the Almanac follows the turning of the year itself.

What is inside the Almanac box?

Every Almanac box contains:

  • Two original signed art prints

  • A 28–32 page illustrated zine

  • A printed moon phase calendar

  • At least one seasonal item exclusive to subscribers

  • A handwritten note from Emma

Is the Almanac box worth the money?

Can I buy a single box without subscribing?

Yes.

A one-off Almanac box is available for £20 when stock is available. It contains the same contents as the subscription version and is an excellent way to experience the Almanac before committing to a monthly subscription.

Because the contents change throughout the year, each delivery feels like a new discovery. Many customers choose gift subscriptions for birthdays, Christmas, retirements, housewarmings and other special occasions.

Can I gift a subscription to someone?

Yes.

Gift subscriptions are available in three, six and twelve month options.

The subscription runs for the selected period and does not automatically renew when the gift term ends.

If you would like the gift to begin in a specific month, simply leave a note at checkout.

Can I pause or cancel my subscription?

Yes.

Subscriptions can be paused, skipped or cancelled at any time.

There are no cancellation fees and no minimum commitment period.

When does the box ship?

Boxes ship between the 25th and 27th of each month.

Customers can subscribe up until the 10th of the month. Orders are then paused between the 10th and 20th while boxes are prepared and packed.

Do you ship outside the UK?

The Almanac currently ships within the United Kingdom.

International shipping options may become available in the future. Please contact us if you would like to register interest from outside the UK.

What makes this subscription box different from other subscription boxes?

The Almanac is created entirely by Emma Heywood in East Cornwall.

Every illustration is drawn by hand.

Every zine is written from original research.

Every month's contents are built around the actual season rather than a generic theme.

The artwork forms a collectible series throughout the year, the seasonal items are exclusive to subscribers and every edition is tied to a specific point in the seasonal calendar.

A July Almanac could not become a November Almanac because the stories, plants and traditions belong to that moment in the year.

Is the Almanac eco-friendly?

Yes.

The Almanac is plastic-free and uses recycled paper wherever possible. Packaging materials are chosen to minimise waste and seasonal botanical items are sourced responsibly.

The focus of the Almanac is on slow consumption, lasting artwork and educational content rather than disposable products.

Can I display the art prints?

Yes.

The prints are designed for framing and display.

Over a year, subscribers receive twenty-four original signed prints inspired by folklore, wildlife, hedgerow plants and seasonal traditions, creating a growing collection of artwork that reflects the turning of the year.

Who is E.L. Heywood?

E.L. Heywood is the artist and writer Emma Heywood, founder of Hedgerow & Moor.

Based in East Cornwall, Emma researches, writes and illustrates every Almanac edition. All artwork, zines and seasonal content are created in-house, making the Almanac a genuinely independent and artist-led subscription.

The aim is to remember how our ancestors connected to nature and the changing seasons, reconnecting with the natural rhythms that still exist around us.

Meet the makers

Hedgerow & Moor was founded by Emma Heywood and Morten Pedersen in 2021. Emma is an artist and illustrator based in Cornwall whose work is deeply inspired by nature, folklore, and traditional craft.

With a qualification in Cosmetic Science and a lifelong fascination with the wild plants of the British landscape, Emma brings an artist’s eye to everything she creates for Hedgerow & Moor, combining research, intuition, and storytelling to create products that feel both timeless and grounded. Her aim is to encourage people to deepen their connection to nature and the ancient rhythms of the land.

In 2017 Emma and her partner Morten Pedersen, invented the revolutionary shampoo cube concept, which is now proudly sold under the Hedgerow & Moor brand.

Morten is from Denmark, with a background in engineering, safety compliance and operations management. He ensures that the manufacturing of the products is carried out safely and to the highest standard.

Hedgerow & Moor aims to preserve and share the knowledge of how plants were once used for healing, beauty, and wellbeing — and how they can once again take centre stage in our lives.
