The July Almanac Box — The Dog Days of Sirius, Golden Hour Tea, and the Hedgerow at High Summer
Description
The July Almanac box is a monthly dispatch from one studio in East Cornwall — two original signed art prints, a 28-page illustrated zine on the folklore and plant lore of high summer, a printed moon phase calendar, and a collection of seasonal items made, gathered, or chosen because they belong to this specific month and no other.
July is the Dog Days — the weeks when Sirius the Dog Star rises with the sun and the old almanac tradition said the weather could not be trusted. The Romans blamed Sirius for the heat. The farmers watched it for signs. The hedgerow, as usual, just kept growing.
What is inside the July box
Two original signed art prints. The first is the Wheel of the Year — the eight old seasons, their plants, and their traditions, illustrated by hand. The second is a linnet, from an original oil painting, it's a hedgerow bird that sings from the top of the gorse in high summer and whose song, once heard, is not easily forgotten.
A 28-page illustrated zine covering the Dog Days of Sirius, mugwort and the Nine Herbs Charm, yarrow, meadowsweet, and the hedgerow at its fullest. Written and illustrated by hand by E.L. Heywood.
A golden hour tea sachet — a summer blend chosen for this month, when the light lasts longest and the evening stretches out.
A common blue butterfly from the collectible wooden animal series — laser-cut and engraved in the studio. The common blue is one of the most widespread butterflies in the British Isles and it is in flight right now, low over the meadow grass, from June through September.
A pack of three shower cubes — conditioning shampoo and body wash combined in a single-use solid cube. Plastic-free, handmade, and concentrated.
A printed illustrated calendar for July with moon phases, key folklore dates, and seasonal markers.
A welcome letter from Emma.
